Discover the south of Corsica

Corsica is unlike any other island because of its inestimable variety of natural beauty: mountains surrounded by a sea of multiple shades of blue and green.

Its rich history of endless invasion forged the island’s wild, rebellious soul and left a remarkable and unique heritage that span millenia.

Not forgetting its gastronomy and wine …

The sea

The crystal-clear waters of the Mediterranean are an endless source of contemplation, activity, discovery and enjoyment.

And with its protected and unspoilt islands, the marine reserve of the Lavezzi are the jewels in the crown.

Nature

Still highly protected, nature abounds here with breathtaking beauty. Known since ancient times as the ‘scented isle’, Corsica is the Alps reascending from the sea. Carved from granite, blessed with a southern climate and adorned with a uniquely rich and scented flora, it offers landscapes of unparalleled variety.

Explore forests of chestnut and laricio pine, the Aiguilles de Bavella, the Piscia di gallu waterfall… bathe in crystal mountain streams…the choice is yours and endless…

Heritage

Bonifacio has a cultural heritage enriched by centuries of invasion. Within the Genoese citadel’s maze of narrow 12th century streets – in the marine cemetery or the church of Saint Dominique with its concerts of Corsican music… Each step plunges you into a rich and fascinating history.

In the ancient villages clinging to the mountainside, the dry-stone walls and the shepherds’ baracu, the pathways of the baroque chapels, the Bronze Age site of Cucuruzzu, or those of the Genoese with their watchtowers or even those of Napoleon…The vestiges of the past are many and varied.

Gastronomy and wine

For several years, Corsican winegrowers have been keen to raise certain wines to a recognised level of excellence.
Made from many grape varieties, these wines deserve to be tasted.

And authentic Corsican gastronomy using local produce from the island has a well established reputation recognised by the Nustrale Charter.
